Schorr began his career as an editorial cartoonist for the Kansas City Star. He then spent several years with the Los Angeles Herald Examiner before returning again to the Star. He joined the New York Daily News as staff editorial cartoonist in July, 1997. His editorial cartoons are nationally distributed by United Feature Syndicate. In creating The Grizzwells, Schorr wanted to do a simple family-oriented strip: "Since human characters dominate most of my editorial cartoons, I didn't want to draw them in my strip as well. My younger daughter has been collecting bears forever and she thought bears would be perfect subject matter." Schorr was born in New York City and grew up in Albuquerque, N.M., and Riverside, Calif. He resides in New York City.
